The Russian Armed Forces have ensured that the corridors are safe exit routes for trapped ships

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that this Saturday the first merchant ship arrived at the Ukrainian port of Mariupol since the beginning of the Russian military operation in the east of the country.

The opening is a positive sign. We don’t know yet if wheat and sunflower oil exports might be resumed through Ukrainian held Odessa. The UK is planning a military escort to force the export which could spark a general war with NATO. Russia has demanded an easing of sanctions in exchange for allowing the Ukrainian exports.

The arrival took place after the members of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and the military engineering units were in charge of demining the port area.
