Ecuador is the world’s largest banana exporter, but the sector has been hammered by the war in Ukraine, unable to sell its product to Russia due to sanctions. In a country where banana production generates up to 300,000 jobs, it’s a hard blow to the Ecuadorian economy and people’s livelihoods.
