The Psychology of Conformity: Individuals need not participate
Essential viewing. This video from Academy of Ideas hits the nail on the head.
We are facing a problem of mass psychology — of the inclination of the many to conform, to join, to please… and to obey.
In this system of thinking, which describes many of the prevailing regimes today, individuals are despised, ostracized… or worse: purged, imprisoned, even killed.
‘Cancel culture’ and all the rest of it has failed to respect freedom of speech for individuals. It has bought into the idea that — as Canada’s conformist/and/authoritarian PM recently quipped — “unacceptable speech” exists.
You MAY NOT think that; and you certainly may not say it.
Our video from last year, ‘The Isolated Individual and the Crowd Beast’ covers much of the same idea.
The Isolated Individual & the Crowd Beast

It isn’t just a problem of going along, and of obeying — but ultimately, of letting someone else do the thinking and make decisions for you.
When that gets extreme, and when it applies across the board; and then is enhanced by AI and automated responses… well, a serious kind of problem is fast developing.
