A draft law on changing the state language was adopted in Moldova
On March 2, the Parliament of Moldova adopted the language law in the first reading. According to the draft law, the expression “Moldovan language” in the Constitution of Moldova will be replaced by “Romanian language”.
AZERTAC reports that during the presentation of the draft law, deputies of the bloc of communists and socialists took the podium. They showed posters with calls for a referendum and early parliamentary elections.
One of the MPs tore the other’s poster, after which a fight broke out between them.
One of the authors of the bill, deputy Petru Frunze from the ruling Action and Solidarity (PAS) party, told reporters that the document on replacing the expression “Moldovan language” with “Romanian language” in all national laws has been forwarded to the Constitutional Court.
