Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has come out against requiring vaccine passports in his state to attend public events such as concerts and other activities.
According The New York Times, his executive order prohibits “businesses from requiring patrons or customers to show vaccine documentation, or risk losing grants or contracts funded by the state.” While it’s not yet clear how this applies to public agencies like state and local governments, DeSantis said requiring proof of vaccination harms patients’ privacy and inhibits personal freedoms.
“It’s completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine to just simply be able to participate in normal society,” Mr. DeSantis said at a news conference on Monday.
